Hogan on the other hand represents a big challenge for Tszyu having fought a vast majority of his career at super-welterweight, but most recently stepping up to take on WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo in December 2019. Tszyu’s final local test confirmed as world stage awaits

Tim Tszyu will step in the ring with Dennis Hogan in March as he waits for his shot at a world title, it was announced on Friday. Tszyu vs Hogan live

Fresh from stopping Bowyn Morgan in the first round in December, Tszyu will fight Hogan at super-welterweight on March 31.

Sydney, Newcastle and the Gold Coast are in the running to host the event.

Hogan has lost three times — all in title fights — in his career while Tszyu is undefeated, and will be given a chance to win the WBO world title later this year.

Taking on a strong fighter like Hogan will be considered by some as a risk ahead of a world title fight, but Tszyu sees it as ideal preparation.

“I don’t see it like others do, for me this is not a big gamble,” Tszyu said, according to the Daily Telegraph.

When I go to fight for that world title, I’m going there to win it, not to be a participant and just compete, so this fight against Dennis Hogan is the perfect preparation.

“Every fight for me is a big step up, every fight is a must-win fight. If I am to be a world champion, I’ve got to destroy whoever is in my way, and right now that is Hogan.”

Tszyu is choosing to keep busy as he bides his time with title holder, Patrick Teixeira, fighting Brian Castano on February 13.

He was set to fight Teixeira himself in February, but plans were scuppered due to COVID-19 complications. Teixeira did, however, secure a visa to the United States to face Castano, meaning Tszyu has been forced to wait for his chance. Tszyu vs Hogan fight time

Tszyu is No.2 in the WBO after his wins against Morgan and, earlier, Jeff Horn.

Hogan, meanwhile, lost his past two bouts to undefeated fighters Jarmall Charlo (middleweight) and Jaime Mungia.
